Abstract
The research investigates the factors that contributed to the development of the concept of Sharia objectives (maqasid) within the Khurasani Shafi'i school. The study is structured into a preface, an introduction, and three chapters. The preface and introduction provide an overview of the Khurasani Shafi'i school. The first chapter explores the scholarly context in which the Khurasani school emerged. The second chapter examines the academic methodologies employed by the school. The third chapter discusses the origin of the science of Sharia objectives within the framework of the Khurasani school. The study will answer the following questions: What are the reasons that led to the emergence of the objectives of Islamic Sharia among the Khurasani Shafi'i school? Did the scientific environment that embraced the Khurasani Shafi'i school influence the emergence of the objectives of Islamic Sharia? Did the scientific method that distinguished the Khurasani Shafi'i school have an impact on establishing the objectives of Islamic Sharia? Did the principles written by Imam al-Shafi'i influence the emergence of the science of the objectives of Islamic Sharia? How did research and classification into the objectives of Islamic Sharia develop among the Khurasanis? The study identified several contributing factors, such as the academic environment of the Khurasani school, its methodological approach, and the foundational principles of Imam Shafi'i's school of thought which emphasized a deep-rooted focus on the principles of Islamic law. Consequently, scholars from this school were dedicated to deriving overarching principles of Islamic law that served as the basis for specific legal rulings.
