Rules of Publication (Instructions for Authors)

Nama Journal is a quarterly peer-reviewed scientific journal, issued by Nama Center every three months distributed over summer, winter, fall, and spring. It publishes research, studies, translations and reviews of original books that have not been previously published and are not submitted for publication in other journals. It adopts two methods of receiving research and studies: the method of writing, and the method of receiving scientific studies. The written studies do not enjoy any privileges over the research received with the Jury Committee.

Published Research and Studies should Meet the following Specifications:

  • Their topic should be appropriate to the Journal’s specialization. Accordingly, priority is always given to research dealing with human studies and the sciences of revelation;
  • They should be original and innovative, and not based on ideas that have been used before;
  • They should adhere to recognized academic specifications and respect the rules of scientific research;
  • Their language should be standard clear Arabic; and
  • They should include the following:
  1. The research title in Arabic and English;
  2. The researcher’s name, e-mail, degree, exact specialization, and the institution he works for in Arabic and English;
  3. The abstract should contain the research objective(s), methodology and main findings. It should be one paragraph of not more than 200 words and not less than 100 words in Arabic and English;
  4. Five keywords should be attached to the end of the abstract, indicating the areas of research in Arabic and English;
  5. An introduction that accurately includes a brief background on the subject of the research, the problem of the research, its objectives, previous studies, hypotheses, methodology and plan without headings;
  6. Presenting the research in accordance with the conventions of the scientific research;
  7. The findings of the research; and
  8. The list of references used in the research. The research should be documented as follows:
  • References should be recorded at the bottom of each page. Numbering should start over on each new page, rather than sequentially numbering references to the end of the research;
  • The name of the author should come first, then the title of the book, then the country of publication, the publisher, the year, and the page. For example:

Taib, Bu Ezzah, In the Sense of Philosophy, Beirut, Nama Center for Research and Studies (2012), p 50;

  • When there is more than one part of the book, the part should be mentioned before the page. If the date of publication is not known, “n.d.” shall be used. In case the reference is repeated, it is sufficient to mention the name of the author and the title of the book/research. For example: Taib, Bu Ezzah, In the Sense of Philosophy, (p. 60). When repeating the same reference immediately, it is enough to write “ibid” (p. 62). The researcher should adhere to the same methodology in documenting foreign books.
  • Articles published in journals should be documented by writing the journal issue between the title of the research and the date of publication. Regarding university theses, the name of the author, the title of the thesis, the issuing university, the year, and the page should be included. The same applies to documenting research on conferences and seminars;
  • The Qur’anic verses should be documented as follows: “Say: He is Allah, the One and Only;” [Al-Ikhlas: 1]. Documentation should be in the text, not in the margin. The verses should be taken from Al-Madina Digital Qur’an;
  • The researcher should be committed to accuracy and honesty in quoting, and fairness in interpreting the meanings of texts. He/She should also adopt the recognized scientific specifications in scientific documentation;
  • Research should be between 5,000 and 8,000 words. Book reviews should be between 1,500 and 3,000 words. They should include the importance of the book, its author, and its contents, its basic thesis, a critical and comparative analysis of the book's thesis and its main axes, and not just an account of its contents. Books should not have passed three years since its publication. Translations should be between 5,000 and 8,000 words. They should include reference to the original title with all references, and be of interest to the journal in the fields of Islamic and humanities; and

The center does not pay any financial reward for publishing studies, research or translations in the journal.
