Abstract
This study critically explores Mohammed A’abed Al-Jabri’s perspective on the Orientalist portrayal of science in Arab-Islamic history, highlighting his conclusion that contemporary narratives are predominantly Eurocentric. Through an analytical lens, it investigates Al-Jabri’s critique of the European framing of the Arab-Islamic scientific legacy and his assertion that science, though present, was sidelined in shaping Arab intellectual traditions due to its detachment from ideological conflicts. Structured in two main sections, the research first addresses Orientalist views and their influence on Arab thought, then delves into Al-Jabri’s argument for recognizing science as a cumulative and universal endeavor. Ultimately, the study underscores Al-Jabri’s belief in the vital role of scientific spirit in fostering progress and development.
