The Problem of Westernization in Mohammed Arkoun's Criticism of Religious Discourse: An Attempt to Dissolve the Confusion About Arkoun's Thought or Arkoun the Non-Orientation
Abstract
The research aims to discover the problem of Westernization in Mohammed Arkoun's criticism of religious discourse and an attempt to dissolve the confusion about Arkoun's thought or Arkoun the Non-Orientation. It was divided into a problematic entry on Arkoun's thought, and then axes concerned with flashes and illuminations from Arkoun's biography that illuminate his critical sense, and the dismantling of Arkoun's critical discourse from the perspective of his Western reference and not a celebration of the Westernization project and the analysis of the Western structures in Arkoun's thought and their functional impact on his readings of religious texts; in the deconstructive and archaeological structure: excavation and deconstruction; in the interpretive structure: the interpretation in addition to the philological basis; in the linguistic systems: a renewal of the mental and cultural frameworks; in the historical, sociological and anthropological systems: an indication of the importance of context in understanding...etc. It is concluded that Arkoun adopts an epistemological position, focusing on effective intellectual freedom in the arenas of knowledge debate on contemporary Arab-Islamic issues.
