The Impact of Logic on the Late Ashʿarite Theology: Manifestations and Models
Abstract
This research attempts to show the impact of logic on the late Ash'arite Islamic Theology, based on the idea that this effect is not limited to the methodological aspects, as confirmed by many contemporary studies, but appears more strongly in the theological contents, which are the pillars of the science. To demonstrate this idea, this research traces, using a descriptive and analytical approach, the fundamentals of Islamic Theology to monitor the features of the logical impact on them. The nature of this subject requires that the research be divided into two axes: The first is devoted to revealing the position of mutakallimin on logic, while the second is devoted to monitoring the impact of logic on the Ash'arite Islamic Theology, in terms of definitions and proofs. The research concludes by stressing the need to take advantage of the positive attitude of mutakallimin towards logic in the development of Islamic Theology in the present era.
