Rationalization Anthropology: The Concept’s Requirements and Problems

Abstract

This paper aims to study the anthropology of rationalization focusing on the concept’s requirements and problems. Recent conflicts and wars round the world and the division of the world into two totally contradictory groups; one steeped in wealth while the other rife with wars, poverty and fear makes it necessary for us to review rationalization. This study makes it clear that factors like scientific knowledge, technological strength and even economic domination or destruction weapons can do nothing to determine rationalization. The basis and essence of rationalization, to be specific, should be measured in accordance to its ability and moral effect which is lost. All this, is performed through providing communities with a balanced vision of the world with a suitable cultural, social or political redirection of people behaviors. However, logic or tests are not sufficient for facilitating the process of understanding the rationality of other cultures, rather they have to be matched with those cognitive and social systems to which they belong. Another issue that has to be regarded in this context is whether cognitive ratio mean radical questioning of rational values or a call for the equality of cultures. This paper also asks about the method by means of which rationalization derives its energy from the surrounding world and get liberated from its central subjectivity by building bridges of understanding between cultures.
