The Moral Theory of Ibn Hazm
Abstract
This research aims to study the moral theory of Ibn Hazm and try to find out the relation between knowledge and ethics, as well as theory and practice of ethics. The research is divided into an introduction and three chapters. The first chapter is concerned with the interpretation of moral awareness. The second dealt with rationing moral duty. The third dealt with the goal of ethics. The research concludes that there is a tight relation between the study of knowledge and the moral theory of Ibn Hazm. The binary division of Ibn Hazm's moral theory is clear, which is theoretical and practical at the same time. In addition, the interpretation of the moral awareness of Ibn Hazm is not limited to one dimension, but rather to many dimensions.
