What is the use of political discourse analysis?
Abstract
In this article, Patrick Charaudo attempts to determine the status of discourse analysis among the rest of the humanities and social sciences disciplines, and to define its characteristics which distinguish it as a scientific, analytical and critical approach. Accordingly, it proceeds from linking the concept of discourse with action and power under penalty of clarifying its influence in guiding public opinion, without neglecting its multiple bets against the rest of the legal, media and social fields. The article concludes that it is necessary to take into consideration its impact, such as the political, social, legal, moral, and psychological realities, as well as the practices emanating from the value system, when studying political discourse.
