Transformations of Islamic Religious Knowledge: From Islamic Science to Islamic Thought
Abstract
This research aims to identify the transformations of Islamic religious knowledge and how to move from legal science to Islamic thought. The research discussed Islamic sciences and their institutions from foundation to cessation, the moment of epistemological foundation, the moment of epistemological and historical cessation, Islamic thought and paths of foundation, the relationship between Islamic thought and Islamic sciences, and the necessity and obstacles to rebuilding Islamic knowledge. The research concluded that the project of rebuilding Islamic sciences allows for the connection of the separated Islamic knowledge, because the legal sciences refer to an epistemological history that is located in the world within a chain of scholars and within a continuous knowledge space. The scientist resumes saying while thought constitutes interruptions and separations. Rebuilding the jurist, for example, requires engagement within the historical context of the jurist, despite all the required and possible innovations, and this is impossible within the intellectual field.
