Colonialism and Islamic Law
Abstract
This article is a translation of the article "Colonialism and Islamic Law" by Ebrahim Moosa. It proceeded from the fact that the familiars about Islamic law in colonial confrontation are as deeply established in folklore as Scheherazade's storytelling of the Arabian Nights, Newton's apple, or Watt's steam engine. Narrative is almost always one-way. The colonialists occupied Muslim lands and eliminated local laws and replaced them with European ones. There is nothing contrary to reality in this description, except for what was canceled for the purpose of simplification.
