Abstract

This article presents a translation of the book "Destiny Disrupted: A history of the World Through Islamic Eyes" by the Afghan writer Tamim Ansary. The first edition of the book was published in 2009 by Public Affairs Books, USA. Tamim Ansary is an Afghan-American, born in Kabul, Afghanistan in 1948. He immigrated to the United States of America at the age of sixteen and settled there. Ansari gained his fame in America after the attacks of September 11, 2001, as a result of his efforts to oppose the American bombing of Afghanistan, despite his open hostility to the Taliban and his demands to track down Osama bin Laden. His book is an attempt to shed light on the ancient history of Islamic peoples, which has been completely neglected in Western studies. It also aims to explain the visions of these peoples and their ideas about the events they went through during their history, without subjecting these visions to Western interpretive standards.
