Theological backgrounds on the topic of prices: Reading in the Mu'tazili and Ash'ari sects
Abstract
This study aimed to examine the issue of ‘prices’ in the sects of Mu'tazili and Ash'ari in an attempt to reveal the contexts of conceptual and theological connotations as well as other issues related to ‘prices’. It also aimed to trace how such concepts developed, reasons behind referring to them as well you to reveal the influence of Mu’tazili and Ash'ari theology, which is basically associated with modification, injustice and acts of human beings. The study concluded that theological concepts had a wide impact on a number of issues which might seem irrelevant to theology such as ‘prices’, being a topic attached to Fiqh and economics. It was also found that the concept of ‘prices’ was affected by the overall concept of justice, and was discussed as connected to sub-concepts such as ‘obligation’, ‘euphemism’, ‘compensation’, ‘generating’, ‘wisdom’, habit’, and ‘acts of human beings’.
