The scientific and metaphysical unit in the philosophy of al-Kindi
Abstract
The research aims to explore the scientific and metaphysical unity in Al-Kindi's philosophy, based on the fact that There are numerous philosophical claims stressing the necessity of making a clear distinction between science and metaphysic, due to the alleged fact that the true philosophy is the on which stressing such distinction. This paper revisited this claim, by revealing that science and metaphysic was one core in the history of philosophy and science. This philosophical core explores human worries and preoccupations; this paper is going to demonstrate the legitimacy of this core and its necessity in the intellectual history of Islam and within the western philosophy. This paper shedding light on unity of science and metaphysics in the legacy of the Arab philosopher Abu Isḥāq al-Kindī, via his use of the Reductio ad absurdum in scientific and metaphysical issues or even ethical issues.
