Abstract
This research aims to identify the base of the public’s understanding of Sharia and its effects according to Al-Shatibi in "Al-Mawafaqat". It deals with a manifestation of the intellectual hyperbole that we suffer from. It also guides to the effective remedy for exclusion, which is the correct and disciplined science. The research dealt with clarifying the public’s understanding of Sharia as a correct rule to which it is invoked, and showing that every principle is only understood by the elite. It is not a general asset of Islamic law. It is not permissible to adopt the provisions of takfir, tabdi’, or tafasiq for those who violate it, according to the verified scholar Al-Shatibi, in a book that many scholars cared for, which is “Al-Mawafaqat”. The book included a report on this rule, mentioning the evidence for it, responses to objections, and the fruits that are based on this rule and its effects in the various fields of knowledge.
